WOW

That's all I can say, well maybe not. We were up 4-0 for the longest time, The Paints loaded the bases, then unloaded them. now 4-4, They added another run and flat out out pitched us through the 7th, 8th, 9th for the win. The fireworks were not the best, but were OK. Koski in center field is amazing, his defense is great, I bet our right fielder never touched a ball ALL night, Kevin had a load of plays. We lost 5-4 by the way.

Breaking News from Miners Camp!

Danny Almonte and Chris Mcgraw have been cut to make room for Ryan Quigley and Griffin Bailey..The Almonte cut is a major deal because of the ESPN story about Almonte. Almonte was featured in a ESPN storyline about Teens who are forced and pushed to play sports and what they are doing now.

Thank you Justin Walker from the Marion Daily for the Information. Pick up your copy of the Marion Daily for more Information on this and many other Miners Events.

Miners Shutout by Rascals 7-0

The Miners high powered, 20+ hits in a single game cant score 1 run against a team who's got 13 overall wins? Way to go Chris. wow, Great pitching and some cool defense leads to the 2nd shutout in a week of the Miners now 22-16 overall..

A day after being shut out by the Southern Illinois Miners at Rent One Stadium, the River City Rascals returned home and returned the favor by shutting out the Miners 7-0.
The Rascals jumped on top in the third on a two run homer by Bobby Mosby and added another run on Mosby’s RBI double in the fifth. Andy Bettis’ double and Brad Hough’s single accounted for three more in the seventh. Phil Laurent drove in the final run in the eighth with an RBI single, his fourth hit of the game.
Laurent had three singles and a double, Mosby a single, double and home run, and Bettis two singles and a double.Chris Clem scattered five hits and allowed only one Miner to reach third base. He struck out nine Southern Illinois hitters while walking two and hitting one. It was the first win of the season for Clem, who saw his ERA drop from 6.46 to 5.25. Ryan Quigley made his first start for the Miners and took the loss.

The Miners won behind some good pitching tonight, and clutch hitting. The Miners signed a new pitcher today, Ryan ? He will be starting Sunday's game. We had to cut someone but I don't know who yet. Sorry for the lack of Information, I worked late Saturday night. Southern Illinois at River City Sunday.

I made the game Saturday. Both times I have been to Rent One Stadium the Miners shut out their opponents.
Blomquist scattered four singles, and got some great defense. Center fielder Kevin Koski would have been on “Web Gems” if ESPN covered the Frontier League. In the fourth he raced to his right and made a diving grab of a Bobby Mosby fly ball at the juncture between the warning track and the outfield wall. Shortstop Mike Scanzano threw out two Rascals runners from the edge of the outfield grass.
The Rascals hitters were pressing and Blomquist got a lot of first-pitch outs. In the fifth and again in the seventh he needed only five pitches to dispatch River City. He was with the Rascals in training camp so he had to love shutting them down.
Rascals lefty starter Brody Taylor had something that led the Miners to run all over him. I don’t know if he wasn’t paying attention to the runners or what, but runners on first ran on him four times in the first three innings, Ryan Kane was safe twice, Ralph Santana was thrown out by catcher Ken Lup, and Scott Simon went to second when Scanzano grounded out. Scanzano stole a base in the sixth. I guess Taylor finally started paying attention in the seventh. Koski led off with a single and Taylor caught him breaking for second for a 1-3-6 put out. Santana then singled, and a fan near us yelled “You may get the rookie that way but you won’t get Santana!” He was wrong, as Santana was retired the very same way.
This may have been the shortest nine inning Frontier League game I have ever seen at two hours, three minutes. After the recent spate of three and a half hour marathons the short game was welcome.
